Boost for Orlando Pirates as coach Abdeslam Ouaddou returns to training after car accident

Orlando Pirates can heave a sigh of relief following the return of head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou to training after car accident.

The 46-year-old, who joined Pirates this summer was involved in an accident at Gqeberha together with five technical team members last week after their 3-0 win over Chippa United.

After witnessing a collision between two vehicles, coach Ouaddou and several staff members got off the team bus to assist those involved. Unfortunately, while they were tending to the scene, a Nissan NP200 vehicle crashed into the stationary cars, striking the group and causing serious injuries.

Prior to the MTN8 final on Saturday, Orlando Pirates have been boosted by the return of their head coach for the much-anticipated clash.

The former Wydad Casablanca gaffer is expected to lead the team for the crucial game after being spotted at training.

Ouaddou was spotted with his right arm in a cast as he took charge of a session at Rand Stadium. The coach appeared fully up to speed, issuing instructions to his players as the team continued their preparations for Saturday’s showdown in Mbombela.

While the Pirates were set to hold an official press conference at Rand Stadium this afternoon, Ouaddou was present for the team’s final touches ahead of the big match.

At this stage, it looks likely the coach will be able to lead the team in Saturday’s final against Stellenbosch at Mbombela Stadium.
