Arsenal legend Thierry Henry linked to Al Ahly’s vacant coaching job
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has emerged as a surprising candidate for Al Ahly’s vacant head coaching position.
The Egyptian giants are actively searching for a new manager following the dismissal of Spanish coach Jose Riveiro last week.
Riveiro was relieved of his duties after a 2-0 defeat to Pyramids FC prior to the international break.
Reports suggest that another high-profile target, José Mourinho, has declined the offer after his recent exit from Fenerbahçe.
Al Ahly president Mahmoud El Khatib is personally overseeing the recruitment process, including conducting interviews via Zoom with potential candidates.
Several names have been linked to the role in recent days, including Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira, German tactician Marco Rose, Egypt’s national coach Hossam El Badry, and, most unexpectedly, Thierry Henry.
Former Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has also been mentioned as a possible returnee.
The club is expected to make an official announcement on its new head coach in the coming days.
