Durban City have announced the signing of South U20 captain Patrick Autata in the summer transfer window.

The promising South African midfielder switched from Cape Town City to Durban City, bolstering their squad for the 2025/26 football campaign.

Despite not disclosing contract details, the 20-year-old midfielder joins the club on a permanent deal and is expected to play a huge role for the club in the current campaign.

Autata was instrumental when the South Africa defeated Morocco to secure their maiden U20 Africa Cup of Nations title in Egypt early this year.

Gomolemo Kekana’s stunning second-half strike proved decisive, as the Southern Africans claimed the trophy and rewrote history by overcoming a North African opponent in the tournament for the first time.

The talented midfielder emerged as a subject of interest for several following a standout performance at the AFCON, but opted to join Durban City.

Having joined the club, he is expected to play a pivotal role for the club in the ongoing Premier League campaign.

Durban City are currently sixth on the Premier League standing, accumulating 8 points after five matches.
