Olympique de Marseille has reportedly entered the race to sign Morocco international Nayef Aguerd during the ongoing summer transfer window.
The French club has struggled defensively in recent seasons, conceding 47 goals across 34 Ligue 1 matches last term.
Marseille sees the West Ham United defender, who spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad, as a potential solution to their backline issues.
Sources indicate that Marseille initiated contact regarding Aguerd as early as June. However, their pursuit faces challenges.
“Other English clubs, including Sunderland, are also interested in Aguerd, who has started West Ham’s first three matches this season,” a source revealed.
Aguerd has featured in all three of West Ham’s matches so far, each resulting in defeat, underscoring both his importance to his current club and the potential appeal for Marseille.
