Kobbie Mainoo pushes for loan move but Manchester United hold firm
Kobbie Mainoo has made it clear he wants more than training sessions and bench appearances.
The young midfielder has asked Manchester United to let him leave on loan before the transfer window closes so he can secure regular first-team football, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The 20-year-old spoke directly to the club in a meeting on Thursday. He explained that his wish is not to walk away from United, but to grow as a player with consistent minutes. Mainoo is also aware that next summer’s World Cup could be a huge chance, and playing regularly is key to his dream.
Despite his request, United have told him they will not approve a loan move. The message from the club is simple: fight for a place and prove your value at Old Trafford.
So far, Mainoo has not featured in the Premier League this season. His only appearance came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby. Interest from Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen did not materialize due to financial challenges.
