Ahmed Hassan Kouka has spoken openly about why he will not feature in Al Ettifaq’s first two matches of the Saudi Premier League season.
The Egyptian striker, who recently joined the club after leaving Le Havre in France, admitted it has been difficult sitting out just as his new journey begins.
Al Ettifaq face Al Khulud today in their opening match before meeting Al Ahli in the second round. Fans had hoped to see Kouka lead the attack, but the forward confirmed that he remains sidelined due to a disciplinary matter carried over from France.
Kouka shared his feelings on X, writing: “I’m sad not to be able to play in the first two matches due to my suspension in the French league.”
He also reassured supporters, adding: “I will be ready for the start of the season and will give everything I have and all the support I can to the team as it begins its journey in the league.”
The ban comes from a French league ruling in May, which left him with a two-game suspension.
