Ghana’s U20 Women’s National Team, the Black Princesses, faced another defeat in their last group stage match against the People’s Republic of China during the U20 Women’s World Cup in Japan. The Black Princesses were already eliminated after losing their first two matches.
Despite being eliminated, Ghana aimed to end their tournament on a positive note. The team started well, with Florence Dadson hitting the bar early in the match. However, China responded efficiently after half an hour, with Han Jiahuyan providing an assist to Zhao Xindi, who scored.
At halftime, China and the USA were tied on points, but China had a goal difference that made it difficult for them to advance. In the second half, China dominated the game but couldn’t breach Ghana’s defense further. With four points, the same as the USA, China’s earlier 0-4 loss to the United States proved costly, leading to their premature exit from the tournament.
While both Ghana and China were eliminated, the experience gained by the Black Princesses against strong opponents was considered valuable for their development.
