Following Brest’s 2-1 defeat against Montpellier on the 34th day of Ligue 1, the club is now on a path that leads towards relegation to Ligue 2. Despite scoring the equalizing goal in the match, Florian Raspentino is unlikely to follow Brest into the lower division.
Raspentino, who has an Algerian father, is currently on loan with Brest, and he expresses his desire to return to Olympique de Marseille (OM) for the next season. In an interview with RMC, the 23-year-old striker stated, “I want to return to OM to have playing time and establish myself. We will see with the leaders what they will want to do.”
Having arrived at Olympique de Marseille from FC Nantes on a free transfer, Raspentino has gained experience in Ligue 1, featuring in 23 championship matches, including 15 as a starter, and scoring four goals.
Despite his aspirations to return to Marseille, Raspentino acknowledges the need to be realistic about his chances of securing a regular spot in Elie Baup’s squad. He mentions, “If I don’t play too much yet, I will still be loaned to a Ligue 1 club.” Even if Brest, currently the bottom team in the league, faces relegation, Raspentino seems determined to continue his career at the top tier of French football.
