TOGO / DARÉ NIBOMBÉ: “THE BELGIAN PRESS ELECTED ME 2ND BEST DEFENDER IN D2”
Togolese international defender Nibombé Daré is enjoying positive recognition in the Belgian press following his team Royal Boussu Dour Borinage’s victory against Heist (1-0) in the opening match of the Belgian second division championship. Daré, who has previously experienced success in the Belgian first division with RAEC-Mons, was named the “second-best defender in D2” by the Belgian press. Despite the challenges faced during the match, including playing with 10 men for 40 minutes, Daré and his team secured a victory.
In addition to celebrating the team’s victory, Daré expressed his satisfaction with the personal recognition from the press. Aged 32, Daré has had a successful career, including being twice vice-champion with Timisoara in Romania, playing in the finals of the Romanian Cup, and participating in the Champions League and Europa League preliminaries. He was also crowned champion of the second division in Belgium with RAEC-Mons.
Looking ahead, Daré, who has earned 80 caps for the Togo national team, is eyeing one last major competition, possibly the upcoming African Cup of Nations in South Africa in 2013. He is set to celebrate his 80th international appearance in the Togo national team’s match against Gabon in the final round of qualifiers for the AFCON. Daré has previously represented Togo in a AFCON and a World Cup in 2006.
