Coach Roy Vitoria urges caution as Egypt prepares for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, with Mohamed Salah emerging as a formidable threat to competitors.
The Portuguese coach, Roy Vitoria, leading the Egyptian national team, has emphasized the necessity for his players to exercise caution as they gear up for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations competition.
Originally planned for the past summer, Ivory Coast is now hosting the Africa Cup of Nations this January, featuring the participation of 24 continental teams.
Egypt finds itself at the helm of Group 2, alongside Ghana, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.
In statements provided to “CAF” via their official website, Vitoria underscored that Egypt, boasting talents like Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s midfielder Mohamed Elneny, will treat every match as a final.
When asked about Egypt being considered the frontrunner in this edition, Vitoria responded, “We need to play each match as it comes.”
Vitoria also acknowledged that Egypt, with seven African titles, hasn’t secured the championship since 2010.
In the last edition, they claimed the runner-up spot after losing to Senegal.
The official website of the African Union highlighted that Egypt, with the guidance of coach Vitoria, aims to erase the pain of their previous failure in the upcoming tournament.
Vitoria expressed his hope that Salah would lead the Pharaohs to a new title.
The global star, Mohamed Salah, received praise as a clear threat to rivals, establishing himself as one of the greatest football players in African history.
“CAF” noted that Vitoria is aware that the Egyptian national team will be highly effective against competitors in Group 2.
However, he remains cautious when discussing Egypt’s chances, considering their illustrious history and the presence of talented players.
As Egypt gears up to advance from Group 2, Vitoria remains focused on containing expectations, all while eyeing victory and clinching the Africa Cup of Nations in 2024.
