**Karim Benzema Responds to Criticism Over France Performances**
Karim Benzema has defended his performances for the French national team, insisting criticism directed at him is often unfair. The Real Madrid striker, who has been sidelined with injury at club level, scored for France against Armenia during the recent international break.
Speaking in an interview with *JDD*, Benzema addressed claims that he does not work hard for Les Bleus. “Just one question: if we’re at 0-0, I don’t run for a minute and I score in the 88th minute, you write that I’m the best the next day? That’s not what I’m looking for,” he said, according to *Top Mercato*.
The 28-year-old continued, emphasising that legitimate criticism should be based on facts. “If someone tells me that I don’t run, they have to give me the statistics that prove it. If I miss four chances, if the ball goes out of touch every time I control it, it’s normal to criticise me. But they’re lying and it pisses me off,” he added.
Benzema’s comments highlight his frustration with what he perceives as unfair scrutiny over his international performances, particularly given his proven goal-scoring record at both club and national level.
