Mahdi Camara has completed a surprise move to Stade Rennais, turning down a previously agreed deal with OGC Nice at the final stage of negotiations.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who impressed last season with Stade Brestois by making 47 appearances and scoring six goals, had reportedly given his approval to join Nice earlier in the window.
However, in a late change of direction, the Gambian-born player opted to sign with Rennes instead.
According to L’Équipe, Camara has agreed a four-year contract with the Breton side, with the transfer fee believed to be in the region of €8m.
The move is expected to be formally announced in the coming days.
