Premier League outfit Brentford are closing in on the acquisition of Franco-Congolese attacker Arnaud Kalimuendo in the current transfer window.
The 23-year-old forward, who is in the books of Stade Rennes has become a transfer target for several clubs, with Brentford, Leeds United and Newcastle United expressing keen interest in the forward.
Kalimuendo, who is under contract at Rennes until 2027, has reportedly turned down an opportunity to join Leeds United this summer, with two other clubs still in the race.
However, the Cherries has reportedly beat off competition from Newcastle United for the signing of the Franco-Congolese attacker. Brentford have advanced in talks to secure the signature of the talented forward.
Brentford have seen Bryan Mbeumo leave for Manchester United, while Yoan Wissa’s future remains uncertain, prompting a swift squad augmentation before the season starts.
Kalimuendo is coming off an impressive season at Rennes, where he was one of the few consistent bright sparks in an underwhelming campaign. He registered 17 goals and 3 assists in 33 league fixtures.
