Hany Ramzy: Vitoria’s choices 90% natural, Sam Morsi’s alleged apology clarified

Hany Ramzy, a member of the Egyptian Football Association and overseer of the national team, expressed his belief that the choices made by coach Roy Vitoria were largely natural and understandable.

Speaking to ON Time Sports, Ramzy responded to the absence of Hussein El-Shahat, Mohamed Awad, and others, saying, “They are good players, but everyone will have different opinions on the selection of the 27 players for the Egyptian national team.”

He added, “This is Vitoria’s point of view, and I swear to God I don’t know the specific reasons for choosing or excluding anyone.”

“From my perspective, 90% of Vitoria’s choices are natural, and Hector Cuper did not include Omar Al-Somah, his historic striker, in the Syrian national team,” Ramzy continued.

He concluded, “Sam Morsi did not apologize for not joining the Egyptian national team.

He is a committed player and was keen to be present in the previous camps.”

As Egypt prepares for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the national team, known as the Pharaohs, is set to face Ghana, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in Group B.

The team is currently undergoing a closed camp in the New Administrative Capital in Cairo, fine-tuning its strategies and formations under the guidance of coach Roy Vitoria.

The Pharaohs will play a friendly match against Tanzania on January 7th at Cairo International Stadium before heading to Ivory Coast.

The team is scheduled to depart for Ivory Coast on January 9th in preparation for the prestigious tournament.

Ramzy’s remarks shed light on the rationale behind the selection process, emphasizing the coach’s prerogative in shaping a cohesive and competitive squad for the challenges that lie ahead in the AFCON 2024.
