The survey conducted by Paris Football Gay (PFG) in France has revealed concerning attitudes towards homosexuality in football. The study, conducted between September 2012 and February 2013, found that 41% of respondents expressed “opinions hostile to homosexuality.” Among footballers specifically, 55% said they were “afraid of showering with a gay player,” and 23% feared that the team would perform less if a teammate came out as gay. The study emphasizes the need for clubs to sign and uphold the Charter against Homophobia, apply sanctions for discriminatory behavior, support players who come out, and raise awareness among players in training centers to combat homophobia in football.
