**Tom Saintfiet Eyes Mlapa and Sunu as Adebayor Standoff Continues**
Togo head coach Tom Saintfiet is determined to find success where others have failed, as he continues to search for key players to strengthen the national team. In the absence of star forward Emmanuel Adebayor, with whom he is at odds, Saintfiet is now considering two other Togolese players who have previously declined to represent their country — Peniel Mlapa and Gilles Sunu.
“If it doesn’t work out with Adebayor, we have other options,” Saintfiet told the BBC. “We are in talks with Peniel Mlapa, a striker who plays in Germany with Bochum in the Bundesliga 2.”
The Belgian coach also expressed interest in another potential addition: “Another player for the future is Gilles Sunu, who played at Arsenal and now plays for Angers,” he added.
The key question remains whether Mlapa and Sunu will respond positively to Saintfiet’s call-up and commit to representing the Togolese national team in the future.
