**Kolo Touré Embraces Final Playing Years with Optimism Despite Injury Setback**
Kolo Touré is entering the twilight of his football career, but the experienced Ivorian defender remains positive and determined. Currently under contract with Liverpool until 2016, the former Arsenal stalwart has seen limited playing time this season. Adding to his challenges, Touré suffered an injury during his first start of the campaign.
The injury occurred last Thursday during Liverpool’s Europa League match against Bordeaux, where Touré was forced to leave the field early due to a knock. Speaking to Footexpress, the defender reflected on his international retirement from the Ivory Coast national team.
“I had imagined it like that: final victory at the Africa Cup of Nations and then retirement. That’s exactly what happened,” he said, recalling Ivory Coast’s triumphant 2015 CAN campaign in Equatorial Guinea. “I’m very happy to have finished like that. I don’t forget the hardships I endured in the national team, especially towards the end. So to finish with the trophy and the honors, there is nothing better.”
Despite the injury setback and reduced minutes at club level, Touré remains motivated to contribute whenever called upon. “Whenever I have the opportunity to play, I will give my all. I love football, I want to play as long as possible. I am lucky to be healthy, I love my job, I don’t know anything else,” he added with a smile.
As he approaches the final chapters of his playing days, Touré’s passion for the game and professionalism continue to shine through, underscoring his enduring commitment to both Liverpool and football itself.
