Shavy Babicka is on the verge of completing a move from Toulouse to Red Star Belgrade after both clubs agreed on a transfer worth €4 million including bonuses, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 25-year-old Gabonese international is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Serbian champions, marking a significant step in his career following a brief spell in Ligue 1. Babicka, who is currently under contract with Toulouse until 2027, is valued at €2.5 million by Transfermarkt.
His move to Belgrade represents a notable financial outlay for the Serbian club, underlining their confidence in the winger’s potential.
Red Star’s pursuit of Babicka was first reported on 10 June 2025 by Africafoot, and negotiations have since progressed swiftly.
The final agreement, which includes additional performance-based incentives, was concluded in recent days.
Once the formalities are complete, Babicka will become one of the highest-profile African players in the Serbian league.
The Gabonese winger earns an annual salary of €240,000 (approximately 156 million FCFA) at Toulouse, and it remains to be seen whether his contract with Red Star will include a salary increase.
What is certain, however, is that the club has high expectations for the right-sided forward.
Babicka joined Toulouse with the hope of making a lasting impact in French football, but he struggled to cement a regular starting role.
Despite flashes of brilliance, his time at the club did not deliver the breakthrough he might have envisioned.
A fresh start in Belgrade offers the opportunity to rediscover form and consistency in a league where Red Star regularly compete for domestic titles and European football.
At 25, Babicka is entering the prime years of his career, and his dynamic playing style and attacking instincts could make him a valuable asset in Red Star’s system.
His potential arrival follows a summer of rebuilding at the club, as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming domestic campaign and European commitments.
Should the deal be finalised without complications, Babicka will become one of the most expensive Gabonese players in recent memory, further raising his profile on the continental stage.
