Brazilian football legend Cafu has hailed Morocco international Achraf Hakimi as the best right back in the world, following a sensational season with Paris Saint-Germain.
Cafu’s endorsement comes after Hakimi’s standout performances helped PSG secure the UEFA Champions League title.
The former Brazil captain was quoted by Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, where he praised Hakimi without hesitation, calling him “the best in the world right now.”
The 25-year-old defender’s season has sparked growing calls for him to be considered for football’s highest individual honour, the Ballon d’Or.
Among those backing him is French coach Hervé Renard, who said Hakimi deserves the award for his consistency and impact.
Renard’s view echoes that of former Morocco coach Badou Zaki, who argued that the Ballon d’Or should go to the player who has delivered the most influential performances throughout the season — and for him, that’s Hakimi.
With support mounting from global football figures, Hakimi’s case for the Ballon d’Or continues to strengthen after a defining year at club and international level.
