Zenit Boss Villas-Boas Handed Six-Match Ban for Clashing with Official
Zenit Saint Petersburg manager André Villas-Boas has been handed a six-match suspension by the Russian Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee following his conduct during a league match against Krylya Sovetov.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea boss, who once coached Emmanuel Adebayor in the Premier League, was sanctioned after an angry confrontation with the fourth official during Zenit’s 3-1 defeat.
According to reports, the Portuguese manager approached the official aggressively and made physical contact, shoving him in the process. The outburst is believed to have stemmed from frustration over his team’s performance.
The Disciplinary Committee described the incident as a serious breach of conduct and issued the six-match ban, effectively sidelining Villas-Boas from the touchline for a significant stretch of the domestic campaign.
The suspension raises questions about the coach’s temperament under pressure, as Zenit look to regain their form in the Russian Premier League.
