Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Lucas Ribeiro finds himself in a high demand as several clubs in Europe express interest in securing his services.
The Brazilian produced an outstanding performance last season, helping the club to annex the South African Premier League title.
Ribeiro recently etched his name into the history books after earning the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup Goal of the tournament, capturing over 40,000 votes in a global fan poll.
Ribeiro’s brilliant strike against German giants Borussia Dortmund beat off competitions from Inter Miami star Lionel Messi, Juventus midfielder Kenan Yildiz’s strike against Wydad and Chelsea’s João Pedro to win the award.
His outstanding performances did not go unnoticed, with several clubs from Qatar, France, and Belgium expressing keen interest in the Brazil attacker.
However, the offers submitted did not meet Mamelodi Sundowns’ expectations. Moreover, Ribeiro himself was not keen on joining any of those clubs.
Pyramids FC, the reigning CAF Champions League holders approached Sundowns in an attempt to sign Ribeiro, but saw their bid turned down.
Ribeiro has since returned to training with his current team, who are back from their break and have begun preparations for the upcoming season.
