OFFICIAL: AYMEN ABDENNOUR JOINS VALENCIA ON FIVE-YEAR DEAL
It’s official—Aymen Abdennour has signed with Valencia CF. The Tunisian international defender has penned a five-year contract, binding him to the Spanish club until June 2020.
The 26-year-old, who made his name at Toulouse before moving to AS Monaco, was pursued by major European clubs such as FC Barcelona and AC Milan. However, Valencia secured his signature to replace Nicolas Otamendi, recently transferred to Manchester City.
“Valencia is a big club in Spain and Europe, I have no doubt about it. I’m happy to be here, part of an ambitious and serious project. I’m going to give everything to have a good season with my new teammates and I hope to win as many matches as possible,” said Abdennour after completing the move.
Abdennour, who was left out of Monaco’s early-season matches, arrives just in time to strengthen the squad ahead of their Champions League campaign.
The deal brings in a total of €30 million including bonuses for Monaco—more than double the €13 million they paid to sign him from Toulouse.
