Nigeria’s coach, Stephen Keshi, announced on Wednesday that Vincent Enyeama, the goalkeeper from Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, will captain the team in the match against Liberia on Saturday. This decision comes in light of Joseph Yobo’s unavailability, providing Enyeama with the opportunity to wear the captain’s armband.
With Yobo out, the 30-year-old Enyeama, who has 65 caps with Nigeria, will take on the leadership role in the team. His task will be crucial as he guides the Super Eagles in their quest for qualification for the South Africa 2013 tournament. Nigeria, along with other major nations on the continent such as Cameroon, Algeria, and Egypt, missed out on the competition this year.
