Jean II Makoun Joins Antalyaspor, Reuniting with Samuel Eto’o in Turkey
Cameroonian midfielder Jean II Makoun is embarking on a new chapter in his career, signing with Turkish side Antalyaspor after a largely inactive spell at Stade Rennais.
The 32-year-old, who struggled for game time last season in Ligue 1, will now link up with former national teammate Samuel Eto’o, who also joined the newly promoted Süper Lig club earlier this summer. The move had been in the pipeline for some time, but Antalyaspor have now confirmed the deal is official.
Makoun brings a wealth of experience to his new side. Having represented clubs such as Lille, Lyon, and Aston Villa, he has long been regarded as a reliable and technically gifted midfielder. His international résumé is equally impressive, with over 60 caps for Cameroon and appearances in two World Cups.
At Antalyaspor, Makoun is expected to play a leadership role both on and off the pitch, especially as the club looks to cement its position in the Turkish top flight following promotion. His reunion with Eto’o also rekindles a partnership that once thrived on the international stage.
For Makoun, this move represents not just a fresh start, but also a final opportunity to reassert his presence in European football.
