Manchester United Target Sadio Mané in Late Transfer Window Bid
Manchester United are preparing a move for Southampton forward Sadio Mané, as manager Louis van Gaal looks to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer window closes.
According to The Telegraph, United have turned their attention to the Senegalese international after missing out on Barcelona winger Pedro Rodríguez, who opted to join Chelsea. The Red Devils are now eyeing Mané as a potential replacement for Ángel Di María, who departed Old Trafford for Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.
Reports in the English press suggest United are ready to offer €30 million for Mané — the same amount they had earmarked for Pedro. The offer could be enough to persuade Southampton to part with their star forward, who has been attracting interest with his explosive pace, versatility, and goal-scoring ability.
Southampton, who signed Mané for €15 million from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg just a year ago, are reportedly open to negotiations. While the Saints would prefer to keep hold of the 23-year-old, the potential for a significant profit could be difficult to resist.
Mané, who enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League, scoring 10 league goals, has quickly become a key figure in Ronald Koeman’s squad. However, a move to Old Trafford would offer the Senegalese star the opportunity to compete at a higher level and potentially in European competition.
Should the deal go through, Mané would follow in the footsteps of Morgan Schneiderlin, who also made the switch from Southampton to Manchester United earlier this summer.
