Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Marseille delays

Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s potential return to French outfit Olympique Marseille is set to delay.

Having parted ways with Al Qadsiah, Aubameyang is set for a sensational return to Marseille in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Despite an impressive goal record in the Gulf State, having scored 21 in 36 games, the former Barcelona and Chelsea star has severed ties with the Saudi outfit.

Aubameyang left Marseille last summer to join Al-Qadsiah following an impressive performance in France, where he scored 30 goals and registered 11 assists in 51 games across competitions.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang, who turned down significant offers from Saudi Arabia and other clubs in Europe to return to Marseille will see his move delayed.

Aubameyang was due to land at Marseille’s Marignane airport at 19:15 CET Tuesday evening before undergoing a medical and signing a contract at the club.

“The club is working closely with all parties involved to finalise this move in the best possible conditions and as quickly as possible,” a statement from Marseille reads as quoted by Get French Football News.

The Gabon international’s arrival is however, not in doubt. Aubameyang is expected to sign a two-year deal with Marseille. His arrival to Marseille is expected to be completed shortly, but not this evening.
