Franco-Cameroonian forward Hugo Ekitike is expected to travel to the United Kingdom on Monday to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Premier League giants, Liverpool in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Ekitike is joining the Reds on a long-term deal ahead of the commencement of the 2025/26 football campaign.
The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the top strikers in Europe following an impressive performance for Frankfurt in the recently concluded campaign.
After a failed stint with Paris Saint-Germain, Ekitike reinvented himself in the Bundesliga with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches during the 2024-2025 season.
He started his career with Reims, where he scored 11 goals in 26 games during his breakout season with Les Champenois before his move to PSG.
Ekitike is expected to sign a six-year deal with Liverpool upon the completion of his mandatory medical this week.
He will travel to join his new teammates in Japan where the Premier League champions are undergoing pre-season preparations.
Ekitike’s form reignited interest from Newcastle, who reportedly had a €75m bid rejected earlier this summer. Liverpool then entered the race, having also made contact with Newcastle over Alexander Isak and showing a willingness to spend over £120m.
With Liverpool and Frankfurt reaching an agreement worth €95m plus bonuses, the forward is set to seal the move in the coming days.
