The French group Canal+ has announced the acquisition of image rights for African football competitions, including the African Cup of Nations (CAN). In a press release, Canal+ stated that it would broadcast the entire competition on Canal+ and Canal+ Sport channels.
This acquisition begins with the 2013 South Africa CAN scheduled from January 19 to February 10 and extends to include CAN 2015. The press release specifies that the agreement with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) also covers broadcasting rights for several other competitions organized by CAF.
Subscribers will have the opportunity to follow some matches from the last round of the CAN 2013 qualifiers, including Senegal vs. Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday, Cameroon vs. Cape Verde on Sunday, and Niger vs. Guinea on Sunday.
