The Emergency Committee of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has suspended Badara Mamaya Séne, the president of the Central Commission of Referees (CCA), and its vice president, Amadou François Gueye, also known as “Francky.” The suspension is for a duration of two years due to serious and repeated violations of both FSF and FIFA statutes. The decision was announced by Augustin Senghor, the president of the Senegalese football federation.
The suspension stems from the officials’ failure to attend a meeting with the FSF to discuss referee absences during scheduled matches in the Tambacounda and Diourbel regions. The absence of referees reportedly caused inconvenience to the FSF and the participating teams, leading to reimbursement of two million francs.
The decision raises questions about its impact on the national championship at various levels and is connected to changes in leadership in the regional leagues of Diourbel and Tambacounda, as well as disagreements over the establishment of a new National Arbitration Directorate (DNA).
Badara Mamaya Séne holds the position of President of African referees within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in addition to his role as president of the CCA in Senegal.
