Belfodil Transfer to Bursaspor Collapses Amid Salary Dispute
Ishak Belfodil’s proposed move to Turkish side Bursaspor has fallen through after a last-minute dispute over salary demands, according to comments made by the club’s sporting director Necmettin Kocaman.
The Algerian international was on the verge of signing with the Süper Lig outfit, with an agreement reportedly reached in principle just two days before. However, the deal was abruptly called off after Belfodil’s father—also acting as his agent—allegedly demanded a higher salary than previously agreed.
“We had reached an agreement in principle for the recruitment of Belfodil,” Kocaman told Le Buteur. “The deal was supposed to be finalized yesterday, but at the last moment, the player’s father and agent went back on the agreement. They demanded a different salary, which took us completely by surprise.”
The unexpected shift in negotiations prompted Bursaspor officials to reconsider the transfer. The club, known for upholding strict internal values, decided to terminate all discussions with the player’s camp.
“Following these developments, we held a meeting with the club president and decided together to end negotiations with Belfodil’s representatives. Bursaspor is a club founded on principles, and we won’t allow anyone to violate them,” Kocaman added.
The breakdown in talks means Belfodil, who was last seen playing for Parma, will now have to look elsewhere as he continues his search for a new club.
