Al Ahly adjusts Tunisia plans and backs out of Etoile du Sahel clash
Al Ahly have made a late change to their pre-season schedule by pulling out of a planned friendly against Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel.
The match was set for July 28 as part of Etoile’s 100th anniversary celebrations, but the Egyptian club has opted out and shortened their training camp in Tunisia.
Originally planned for 11 days in Tabarka, the camp will now last just 8 days. A source within Al Ahly told Kooora that the matter with Etoile is now completely closed.
The Red Devils will depart for Tunisia on Friday and play only two friendlies, against Stade Tunisien on July 21 and CA Bizertin on July 25—before returning to Cairo the following day.
The source also confirmed that the team’s technical staff, led by Spanish coach Jose Riveiro, has decided to tweak the schedule further by arranging two friendly matches in Cairo after the team’s return, instead of one.
The changes are part of Riveiro’s efforts to refine his squad ahead of the upcoming season with a more tailored and controlled training environment.
