Initially expected to play in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern after recovering from a right thigh injury sustained in the previous match against PSG, Lionel Messi’s status is now uncertain.
A recent club press release stated, “Messi trained normally on Sunday morning and, although he does not yet have the medical green light, he entered the group of 21 called up for the semi-final. The only three absent are Mascherano and Puyol, injured, and Adriano, suspended.”
However, today, doubts have intensified, and the entire Barcelona team is anxiously hoping that the Argentine maestro will be fit to take the field. Messi has the ability to single-handedly influence a match, but his lingering thigh issue raises concerns.
Jordi Roura, the assistant coach of Barcelona, emphasized, “I cannot give a definitive answer. In recent days, his injury has progressed well, we are hopeful, but we will make our decision after the last training session.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Messi’s participation, Barcelona secured a victory against Levante in La Liga on Sunday with a 1-0 scoreline.
