Gabon’s Musavu-King Joins Granada on Loan from Udinese
Gabon international Yrondu Musavu-King is set to embark on a new chapter in his career after joining Spanish side Granada on loan from Italian club Udinese. The 23-year-old defender signed a five-year deal with Udinese following the expiration of his contract with French club Stade Malherbe de Caen but will spend the upcoming season in La Liga.
Musavu-King, who had attracted interest from clubs including Ajax and Celta Vigo, opted for Granada, citing the club’s project and the appeal of Spanish football.
“I wanted to try my luck abroad. I had several offers, but Granada presented an attractive project,” he told French sports daily L’Équipe. “I wanted to experience a different footballing philosophy. In Spain, the game is more open, with less rigid defending. It’s also home to the two best clubs and the two best players in the world.”
Granada, who finished 17th in La Liga last season, will be hoping the addition of the promising centre-back can help stabilise their defence as they aim to improve their standing in Spain’s top flight.
Musavu-King began last season strongly with Caen, but his campaign was cut short after sustaining an injury during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. The setback sidelined him for several months, but he now looks forward to making a fresh start in Spain.
His loan move marks the beginning of his first experience in La Liga, as he looks to rebuild momentum and establish himself in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
