Marseille Eye Move for Metz Midfielder Bouna Sarr
Olympique de Marseille are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Bouna Sarr from FC Metz, as the Ligue 1 giants continue their summer recruitment drive.
Sarr, 23, was one of the few bright spots in a difficult campaign for Metz, who were relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of last season. Despite his team’s struggles, the versatile midfielder featured in all 30 of Metz’s Ligue 1 fixtures, contributing two goals and two assists.
His consistency and work rate have not gone unnoticed. According to Footmercato, Marseille are keen on the Franco-Guinean player and may finalise the deal within the next ten days.
Sarr, who came through the Metz youth system, has attracted interest due to his technical ability, pace, and adaptability — capable of playing on either wing or in a central attacking role. While his club slipped to the second division, Sarr’s personal performances stood out enough to make him a target for several Ligue 1 sides, with Marseille reportedly leading the race.
Should the transfer materialise, he would become OM’s latest summer signing following the arrivals of winger Georges-Kévin Nkoudou from Nantes, goalkeeper Yohann Pelé, and the expected addition of N’Golo Kanté.
Marseille are undergoing a squad rebuild following the departures of key players such as André Ayew, Dimitri Payet, and André-Pierre Gignac. Sarr would be seen as part of a youthful, energetic group aiming to keep the club competitive both domestically and in Europe.
No official confirmation has been made yet, but talks between the clubs are said to be progressing positively.
