Sunderland interested in Morocco and Leicester City youngster Bilal El Khannouss

Newly Premier League outfit Sunderland have expressed firm interest in Morocco international Bilal El Khannouss.

The Black Cats are keen on bolstering their squad for the 2025/26 football campaign in an attempt to make an impact, with the 21-year-old emerging as a priority target.

Bilal El Khannouss have attracted significant interest from AS Monaco and West Ham United, following a standout performance for the Foxes last term. His performance overshadowed Leicester City struggle, who suffered relegation at the end of the season.

However, Sunderland are in the lead for the pursue of the Morocco international. The Black Cats have been extremely active during this window as they look to maintain their Premier League status following an eight-year absence.

The Moroccan international only joined Leicester last summer on a four-year contract from Belgian side KRC Genk. However, he is reportedly already looking for the exit door following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

His current contract with Leicester City is expected to elapse in the summer of 2028. Since making his debut for the Morocco national team in 2022, the midfielder has made 22 appearances and scored one goal in the process.
