Liverpool eye move for Franco-Congolese forward Jean-Philippe Mateta
Premier League giants Liverpool are eyeing a move for France international of DR Congo descent Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The Reds are keen on segmenting their squad for the 2025/26 football campaign, and Mateta, who plies his trade for Crystal Palace has emerged as a priority target.
The Premier League champions has already met the 28-year-old and his entourage in Paris in an attempt to secure the services of the attacker.
Mateta has been a subject of interest for several clubs in Europe following an outstanding performance for Crystal Palace. He racked up 17 goals and provided 4 assists in 46 appearances across competitions.
He joined Crystal Palace in 2022 from Mainz for €11 million and, since then, has played 152 matches, scoring 46 goals and providing 11 assists.
The forward’s current contract with Crystal Palace runs until 2027. However, he could exit the club this summer amid growing interest.
However, Palace may still be hoping to rely upon his services when they take their maiden steps in Europe in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Liverpool are not the only team interested in the French Olympian, with AC Milan expressing interest in the attacker.
