Olympique Marseille are close to securing the services of Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 36-year-old former Chelsea and Barcelona star is leaving Saudi Arabia after just a year spell with Al-Qadsiah. Despite having a year deal on his contract, Aubameyang is set to depart the Saudi Pro League this summer.
Aubameyang left Marseille last summer to join Al-Qadsiah following an impressive performance in France, where he scored 30 goals and registered 11 assists in 51 games across competitions.
Despite attracting interest from several clubs, the Gabon international favours a move to Marseille. Aubameyang was a subject of interest for several clubs in Europe, Major League Soccer and the Saudi Pro League.
The French outfit made their interest known and Aubameyang was enticed by the prospect of returning to Southern France. Marseille offered Aubameyang a two-year deal and talks are now at an advanced stage regarding the financial package.
With talks advancing, the enterprising attacker is expected to complete a move to Marseille in the coming days.
Aubameyang has had spells for top clubs in Europe including Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona.
