Patrice Neveu in the Running for Ivory Coast Head Coach Role
Ivory Coast’s search for a new national team manager is gaining momentum, and French coach Patrice Neveu has officially thrown his hat into the ring. According to sources, Neveu has submitted his application following a formal call for tenders launched by the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).
Currently unattached since parting ways with Mauritania, Neveu is eager to return to the international stage. The 61-year-old has extensive experience across Africa, having previously managed national teams including DR Congo, Guinea, and most recently, Mauritania. He has also held club roles in Egypt and China.
Despite receiving offers from African and Gulf-based clubs, Neveu has made it clear that his ambition lies with managing at the national team level. His recent attempts to land similar roles in Guinea, Senegal, Mali, and Togo were unsuccessful, but the seasoned tactician remains determined to lead one of Africa’s top footballing nations.
The Ivorian Football Federation has set a deadline of June 15 for applications. Once the submission window closes, an initial shortlist of three candidates will be drawn up before the final appointment is made.
Neveu’s deep knowledge of African football and his track record in challenging coaching environments could position him as a strong contender for the Elephants’ dugout, as the team looks to rebuild and prepare for upcoming international competitions.
