Omar Daf Set to Become Assistant Coach for Senegal’s National Team
Following the appointment of Aliou Cissé as head coach of the Senegal national team, it’s becoming clear that Omar Daf will join him as his assistant. Currently an assistant coach at French club Sochaux, Daf has been proposed by Cissé to the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), who have given their approval.
A Senegalese football official told wiwsport:
“The FSF has put into the balance the character of Omar Daf, who is a boy who needs no introduction in the Senegalese football scene. We are aware that he can bring a lot to the staff to help Aliou in his task.”
Importantly, Omar Daf will maintain his coaching role at Sochaux while assisting Senegal. This dual role is seen as an advantage:
“Don’t forget that he is in the learning phase in France. Today, we have authorized Omar to continue his training at Sochaux. This will be useful to us because he will take advantage of his position to connect with some of Aliou Cissé’s real contacts, whom he will be able to inform on a daily basis about the behavior of the Senegalese players in Ligue 2 where his club, Sochaux, plays.”
This collaboration is expected to strengthen the national team’s coaching setup by combining local knowledge and European experience.
