Mohamed Salah returned to Liverpool training on Tuesday as the club regrouped for the first time since the heartbreaking loss of teammate Diogo Jota.

The Egyptian forward was among the first to arrive at the AXA Training Centre, marking an emotional step forward for the team still grieving the death of the Portuguese striker.

Liverpool had delayed their pre-season preparations following the tragic car crash in northern Spain last Thursday that claimed the lives of Jota, 28, and his younger brother, Andre Silva. The Reds, English Premier League champions, paused all team activities in respect of the sudden loss.

Head coach Arne Slot, along with several squad members, traveled to Gondomar in Portugal on Saturday to attend Jota’s funeral and pay their respects to his family.

A memorial site has been set up at Anfield, where fans and former players continue to leave flowers, scarves, jerseys, and heartfelt messages in tribute to Jota.

Liverpool’s friendly against Preston on Sunday remains uncertain, with ticket sales on hold. The club’s upcoming Asian tour includes matches against AC Milan in Hong Kong and Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.
