Premier League star Pape Sarr has funded the installation of electricity in his native country, Senegal.

The 22-year-old midfielder has forked out thousands of pounds to provide electricity for his hometown of Fayako in Senegal.

Reaffirming his deep connection to his root, the midfielder has paid for the installation of electricity in an attempt to transform the island community.

“The process is already underway with regards to electricity. I hope that soon, Fayako will shine as brightly as its people do. I love this village, and I’m proud of its people,” said Pape Sarr.

In addition to bringing electricity, the footballer has also donated educational materials to the local school, including a laptop, printer, and solar panels, and has supplied building materials for the expansion of the rural medical center.

Sarr is following in the footsteps of his idol, former Liverpool star Sadio Mane, who donated £500,000 towards building a hospital in his hometown of Bambali.

The midfielder signed with Tottenham in 2021 after moving from French side Metz, but made his debut for the club only on January 1, 2023. In May 2025, he and the London club lifted the Europa League trophy.
