English Championship outfit Watford is on the verge of securing the services of Morocco youth international Othmane Maamma in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old talented winger is joining Watford from Montpellier and is expected to sign a four-year deal with the club.
Othmane Maamma progressed through Montpellier’s academy and featured in 14 Ligue 1 matches last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Whilst the Hérault club were relegated to Ligue 2 after finishing bottom of the league last campaign, the Moroccan was one of the standout players who would look likely to move on.
Bundesliga side SC Freiburg were interested in the CAN U20 finalist with Morocco, and were willing to spend up to €3m on the player’s final two years of his MHSC contract.
However, Watford have won the race to snap up the teenage sensation ahead of the 2025/26 football campaign.
He is expected to play a huge role for the Championship outfit as they seek promotion to the Premier league next campaign.
