South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns part ways with FIVE players’ ahead new season
South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the departure of five players as part of a major squad overhaul heading into the new season.
The Brazilians are gearing up for the 2025/26 football campaign as they aim to surpass their performance in the recently concluded season.
However, the club has parted with five players including goalkeeper Sanele Tshabalala, defence duo of Sifiso Ngobeni, and Lucas Suarez.
Other players who have exited Sundowns are midfielder Sipho Mbule and striker Thabang Sibanyoni.
Mamelodi Sundowns have shifted their attention on restructuring their squad for the new season following the FIFA Club World Cup participation.
As was the case in the previous transfer windows, Sundowns are expected to be active as they hope to get players who can help them achieve their season targets.
Last season, they only managed to defend the PSL but fell short in the Nedbank Cup – they were eliminated in the semi-final by the eventual champions, Kaizer Chiefs, and in the CAF Champions League.
Their hope of winning a second continental star was dashed by Pyramids FC of Egypt, who won their first.
