ITALY: SAMPDORIA DREAMS OF AN ETO’O–BALOTELLI DUO
Mario Balotelli’s disappointing stint at Liverpool may be nearing its end, and a return to Serie A could be on the cards. According to the Daily Mail, Sampdoria is keen on offering the Italian striker a fresh start, with club president Massimo Ferrero publicly expressing his desire to pair Balotelli with Samuel Eto’o.
“Balotelli is a big name. He suits a lot of teams. An Eto’o–Balotelli attack would be fantastic,” said Ferrero.
Despite high expectations following his move from AC Milan to Liverpool, Balotelli has managed just four goals across all competitions this season. With Liverpool looking to offload the forward and recruit new attacking options, a move to Genoa could offer the 24-year-old a chance to revive his career alongside the experienced Eto’o.
