Abdelmoumen Djabou Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery, Faces 5–6 Months Out
Algerian international Abdelmoumen Djabou has successfully undergone surgery on his cruciate ligament after sustaining the injury during a training session with Club Africain around ten days ago.
The club confirmed that the operation, performed on Thursday, went smoothly without complications. A Club Africain spokesperson told TAP:
“The date of his release from the clinic and the rehabilitation sessions will be decided by the club’s medical staff, but his return to the field will not take place for five or six months.”
Djabou, 28, has been a key figure for Club Africain since joining in the 2013–2014 season. He has played a pivotal role in the club’s Ligue 1 campaign this year and is currently joint second top scorer with 8 goals, tied with Tijani Belaid and trailing Sabeur Khelifa (13 goals).
His absence will be a serious blow to Club Africain’s title hopes as they approach the business end of the season. Djabou is also expected to miss key international fixtures with the Algerian national team.
