Chelsea prepare £55m bid to sign Ghana star Mohammed Kudus from West Ham

Chelsea are set to launch an official £55 million bid to sign West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus as the summer transfer window heats up.

The Ghanaian international has become a key target for the Blues, who are keen to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Despite their strong interest, Chelsea face competition from Tottenham Hotspur, who have already made a bid that was rejected by the Hammers.

Reports suggest Chelsea’s offer will include an initial £55 million, with a further £5 million in performance-based add-ons, potentially bringing the total package to £60 million — the valuation West Ham are believed to be holding out for.

Kudus, 23, joined West Ham from Ajax last year for £38 million. Since his arrival, he has made 80 appearances and scored 19 goals in all competitions, impressing fans and pundits across Europe with his versatility and technical quality.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday, Blues boss Enzo Maresca offered measured praise for Kudus.

“He’s a West Ham player, so I can’t say much. The only thing I can say is that I’ve known Kudus since his time at Ajax,” Maresca said.

With both Chelsea and Spurs in the race, the coming days could prove decisive in determining the next chapter of Kudus’ career.
