Rennes Midfield Duo Doucouré and Pajot Ruled Out Ahead of Nice Clash
Rennes will be without key midfielders Abdoulaye Doucouré and Vincent Pajot for their Ligue 1 clash against Nice on Matchday 33.
Franco-Malian midfielder Doucouré is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards in less than ten appearances. The 22-year-old was booked in recent matches against Bordeaux, Lille, and Guingamp, triggering an automatic one-match ban under league disciplinary rules.
His absence is a blow to Rennes, who have relied on his energy and box-to-box presence during a crucial phase of the season.
Adding to the club’s midfield woes, Vincent Pajot will also miss out as he continues to recover from a groin injury. The former Saint-Étienne man has resumed light training but is not yet deemed fit to return to competitive action.
“He’s not at his best yet,” the Rennes coach admitted, suggesting Pajot is unlikely to feature in the club’s upcoming fixtures, including their trip to Monaco.
With both players sidelined, Rennes may need to reshuffle their midfield options as they look to maintain momentum in the final stretch of the Ligue 1 campaign.
