Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly has tasked head coach Jose Riveiro to determine the fate of goalkeepers and other young players in the team heading into the new campaign.
The former Orlando Pirates gaffer will also decide the future of several youth players who spent last season out on loan. The move is in line with the club’s new strategy in nurturing homegrown talent.
Al Ahly are bent on nurturing talent for future benefit and will be counting on the Spanish gaffer recommendations for their recruitment this summer.
The record CAF Champions League holders will officially begin their off-season program in July. The club aims to significantly improve the squad’s physical conditioning and ensure they are fully ready for the challenges of the new season.
Al Ahly recently bowed out of the ongoing FIFA Club Cup tournament in the United State of America. The Cairo-based club finished bottom in Group A, accumulating two points from three matches.
