Eric Bailly parts ways with Villarreal after second spell at the club
Villarreal CF and Ivorian defender Eric Bailly have officially ended their association following the conclusion of his second spell with the club, which lasted a season and a half.
In a brief statement released on Tuesday, the Spanish side expressed gratitude to the 30-year-old for his service:
“Thank you, Eric, for your commitment, dedication, and professionalism every time you wore our shirt. We wish you the best of luck in the future.”
Bailly, who previously played for Villarreal from 2015 to 2016 before moving to Manchester United, returned to the Estadio de la Cerámica in January 2023.
His second stint saw him bring leadership and defensive strength to the squad during a transitional period for the club.
The Ivorian international featured in several La Liga and European matches, offering experience and composure at the back.
While his time with the team in this second spell was more limited than his earlier tenure, his contributions both on and off the pitch were highly valued by teammates and staff alike.
Bailly now leaves Villarreal as a free agent, and his next destination remains to be confirmed.
