European clubs circle Algerian midfielder Himad Abdelli in lively summer transfer window

European clubs circle Algerian midfielder Himad Abdelli in lively summer transfer window

Algerian attacking midfielder Himad Abdelli has emerged as a sought-after target for several European clubs during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Angers SCO standout is currently on the radar of Italy’s Torino FC and Turkey’s Trabzonspor, in addition to previously reported interest from Premier League newcomers Leeds United.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the 25-year-old’s consistent performances in Ligue 2 have drawn the attention of clubs looking to reinforce their midfield ranks ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Abdelli played a key role for Angers in the last campaign, making 36 appearances across all competitions and contributing six goals and one assist.

His technical ability and versatility in midfield — operating comfortably as a playmaker or deeper-lying central midfielder — have made him an integral part of the Angers squad, even earning him the captain’s armband on several occasions.

With a contract at Angers that runs until June 2026, Abdelli remains a valued asset for the French club. However, growing interest from across the continent suggests his time in Ligue 2 may be nearing its end.

Torino FC, competing in Italy’s Serie A, are believed to be monitoring Abdelli closely as they prepare for a potential midfield reshuffle.

The club is reportedly bracing for the possible departure of Samuele Ricci, who is attracting attention from AC Milan. Should Ricci make the switch, Torino view Abdelli as a viable replacement to strengthen their central unit.

In Turkey, Trabzonspor are also eyeing the Algerian international as they aim to add more creativity to their midfield.

The club, which has been active in the market in recent seasons to build a squad capable of contending for the Süper Lig title, is reportedly considering a formal bid for Abdelli in the coming weeks.

Leeds United, who have recently returned to the Premier League, are likewise positioning themselves as serious contenders for Abdelli’s signature. As part of a larger squad overhaul, the Yorkshire side is reportedly prepared to offer up to €10 million for the Angers captain.

The club sees Abdelli as a player who can bring vision and balance to their midfield as they prepare for top-flight competition once again.

Despite the growing speculation, Angers have yet to receive an official bid for their midfielder. Nevertheless, the rising interest from multiple clubs across three leagues signals what could be a decisive summer for Abdelli’s future.

The player’s calm presence on the ball, eye for goal, and leadership qualities make him an attractive proposition for clubs in need of a reliable and creative midfield presence.

For now, Abdelli remains focused on his commitments with Angers, but with two years left on his contract and clubs circling with intent, the weeks ahead may determine whether the Algerian international takes the next step in his career outside of France.
